Candy Cauldron

I picked up this Pearl Pereira design (P3Designs) several years ago instead of her Halloween Baltimore pattern. This is pretty much the center of that pattern, only embroidered instead of appliqued. I started it and life happened and I put it down. I rediscovered it last November or December, got the embroidery done and then added borders at the end of March. Yesterday I got it marked for hand quilting, and today I got it basted. Now to find my small hoop and quilt it! I'd really like to get it done by Halloween, this year.

Farm Girl Vintage - April blocks

Got my Farm Girl Vintage blocks done for April, enjoying using the Lynette Anderson fabrics! I am not a fan of draw a line on the diagonal for corner HSTs, especially for some of these bits there is a lot of waste. I am putting all of my scraps into a tin and looking there for small things first. I actually got to use some for the centers bits of Apron Strings, top left block.

LUS assembly progress

A sneak peak of my progress so far with my Loyal Union Sampler assembly.

Assembling is slow going, especially when I can't find a block. Last night I had to take the ripper to some bordering, and now I can't find it! Column 6 is underway. Of course I didn't get enough white to do this layout, so now I am on the hunt to match the original fabric. Kona cotton should not be that hard to find, will bring a piece to the fabric store instead of guessing.

Shipshewana Amish Sampler quilt-along - DONE!

Back in 2013 I was invited to a quilt along making the Shoshewana Amish Sampler quilt (designed by Gay Bomers of Sentimental Stitches). I kept up with the blocks and got it into a top, but then it languished, as so many tops do. After getting my Bernina 830 earlier this year, I vowed to get some tops into quilts. This one is the first of the larger quilts, even though it is only 56" x 67", working up.

Hopefully you can see some of the quilting, this was definitely a learning experience quilt, tried out lots of new ideas.

I Want to Believe quilt along

Jennifer Ofenstein of Fandom in Stitches started a quilt along to celebrate the reprise of The X-files TV show. For some reason, it struck a chord and I wanted to make this quilt! The last block was posted a few weeks back, and I had Empty Spools to go to, but I finally got the top assembled yesterday!

I now have another quilt to quilt, so I better get quilting on the one currently being quilted! Half of the border left to go, and then binding.

Farm Girl Vintage

I decided to take a BOM at The Granary with a friend, just because. I agonized over fabric, made many choices, but finally ended with with a collection of Lynette Anderson fabrics. These are the first two months worth, need to get busy on the April blocks!

Empty Spools

I went to two Empty Spools sessions this year, just got back from the second trip, this one for applique. Don't have much to show for that, although I learned a ton from Jeanne Sullivan, a last minute substitute for an ill Sue Garman. Ladies of the Sea got started, and hopefully I can get her done in the next five years or so. Meanwhile I am going to use some of the things I learned to work on last years project, and some earlier things too. I have a couple of Lone Star quilts that have applique on them, which stalled these beauties big time. Now to get them moving along. Meanwhile I will leave you with a just post sun set picture I took while there.

Splendid Sampler

So much for not starting another 6" block quilt,I have actually started two of them, what is up with that? The second one is doing The Splendid Sampler quilt-along with Pat Sloan. I am currently almost caught up.

Another one came out today, and I still have the birds to finish. I was going to use this fabric to make the Farm Girl Vintage quilt, but changed my mind ☺

Some catch-up

I have been woefully neglecting the blog, Facebook struck, sorry. Lots has happened over the last couple of years, most notably, I retired, so have more time for my quilts and knitting and other stuff too. And I have forgotten how to edit HTML, will have to relearn that!

I worked faithfully on my Loyal Union Sampler until I got all of the blue and yellow blocks done,

I am now assembling them, picture soon.

I am trying to get some UFOs done, so I took a long arm class at the Tech shop, and plan on quilting some quilts there. But I also bought a Bernina 830 which is wonderful for quilting bigger quilts easier. I have been pouring over my quilting books (vice piecing books) and have gotten a few small things done. Meanwhile I am just about done with this quilt:

and finished these two:

More later, I have more tops done, and some knitting too :)
