Churn Dash Progress

The 6" blocks are all done! Now to work on the 4 1/2" blocks, 5 down, 28 to go. The grouping on the right shows the four different sizes and how they work together. There will also be a little spacer strip by the 4 1/2" blocks.

Thanks. Pretty soon I will start assembling blocks into the larger units.

Are instructions available for the Churn Dash? How to put all the different sizes together?

I found it in a magazine, then changed it. so, yes, kind of. Actually the magazine instructions are better, I just didn't follow them to start, so ended up with a different way of putting them together. Their centers are slightly larger to make 16", 10", and 4" blocks. The 16" block has a 5 1/2" center and 5 1/4" corners, for example (finished sizes). The 6" blocks have 2" finished units. And I have misplaced the magazine, so can't tell you which one right now. It is a few years old though.

Thanks for the info. If you come across the magazine again, I would appreciate it if you mention it in your blog. I read you faithfully since I came upon your Farmers Wife which is just lovely. I have finished about 90 blocks, getting toward the end but mine is all scrappy.

The original project was in American Patchwork & Quilting, Issue 90 (Feb 2008). It has been re-released in a current magazine, with Scraps or Scrappy in the title.
